blueandblack I am going home. I will never make it. An inches breath away, a thin veneer of shame. I will never stand in the kitchen again, only a kitchen, in the place I used to live in. But this gets me close.

about

Paving the way towards the release of his debut solo album later in 2022, Erik Buschmann's second single "Dad I'm Home" is an ode to the time that passes and the vital sentinels marking out each of one's life crossroads. Layered in dusty, ektachromatic electronic envelopes, the title-track unfolds like a secret fresh out the attic in all its mysterious, poignant glory. Moving memories floating at a silk-like surface, brittle bubbles of hope born out dormant waters, Buschmann's opening cut is a poetic train of ephemeral joy and evergreen solace.

High on sino-flavoured chords and tape delayed rewinds, "You=Goosebumps" ushers us in a Sakura-esque set-up, each bar blossoming with a minutely engineered mix of vivid guzheng flights, mellow, cottony synths and skittish drum work that will have you teleported to a zen-like, petals-enshrouded haven in a flash. Decidedly pushing forward, "Now or Never" blazes a trail of healing empowerment and rounds off the package on a resolutely utopian note. Driven by a contrasted blend of ominous bass and subtly iridescent keyboards, the track slowly hatches into a cohesive whole that leaves no doubt as to tomorrow's promise: no matters it feels like doom and gloom all around, hope is around us anywhere, anytime.
