Dad I’m Home originated from a jamsession that i’ve had with my dear friend and violin player Nadine Dekker. On that day it was a very hot summer day so we thought it would be nice to summon the gods of rain by trying to make lots of rainy sounds. After creating the demo i finished arranging Dad I’m Home on a famous visual artwork from Bill Viola called Ascension because it felt like a visual representation of something that i wanted to achieve but wasn’t possible anymore. After my dad passed away i’ve had the feeling of letting my dad know that i’m doing ok and that i’m surrounded with fantastic friends and family that helped me get through this process of mourning and that i really feel like i am home again, just in a different one.
